Japan consists of many islands and Ferry and RORO ship have important roles for economic activity. Ferry/RORO service promotes an eco-friendly modal shift in domestic logistics. MOL is the biggest Ferry/RORO operator in Japan. The RORO service between Turkey and Europe has also very important role. MOL Turkey’s Ambition

“Scrap & Built” policy is adapted in Japan Domestic Shipping Industry, if Domestic Shipping Company want to replace the ship to new one, they cannot use it in domestic route. In this connection, shipping line should sell the ship to the foreign markets. If the ship cannot sell, ship should be scrapped. However, basically the domestic ship conditions are very good and use the more expensive equipment compared with international ships. MOL Turkey want to use such ships in good conditions in this region. MOL Turkey don’t want to send them to scrap yard but hope to find the partner for operating them for their 2nd life. If we find the chance and partners, we would like to consider to bring the second-hand RORO/Ferry ship from Japan and start new service in this region.
